Getting Organised
We have now been back in Bristol for over eight weeks and I have to admit, it only just feels like I am truly settled back into a routine. To be honest, I think with university it’s much more difficult to feel as if you are living by a regular routine. This was one thing that I now realise I only properly acknowledged by second term last year, after which it then became a lot easier to get on with things. The feeling of having a to-do list that never ends seems inevitable, but I would say that definitely doesn’t have to be a bad thing! Whereas at home, evening activities might be limited to a few, the massive range of things going on every single night at uni make it impossible to attend everything – however many events you may say you’re ‘going’ to on Facebook. Even being ‘interested’ seems a far stretch when you’re ‘interested’ in more than one event happening in the same time scale in different locations…
So far this term, I have felt quite lucky with my modules in that their timetabling and deadlines have co-ordinated well so that I have not had a build-up of essays and assignments all due in the same time. I would most definitely recommend in investing a whole few pounds into some sort of diary/agenda that you can scribble down any plans (or those events you might want to go to in the future but committing to at the time seems too early). I usually stick a post-it note to the relevant page with the work I have to get done that week. Having not done this last year simply because it seemed too much of an effort, it has revolutionised my time management as I actually know what I have to do and when it is for. Only a few weeks left and it will be the end of term and time for revision so I am hoping that by having done my best to keep on top of things as the term has unrolled, starting revision will seem less of a mighty task than it can do.
