Anxious to go home!
Counting down the last days before finishing the first term for this year is resulting in an arduous wait. Having not seen my family for a solid three months (and been too busy to Skype…), the 9000 kilometres that separates us is starting to feel like light years and I am more than ready to be reunited with them.
However, it’s very easy to get yourself distracted from being homesick at the end of term. Not only does every lecturer seem to have half a mind to work you to death, but there’s so much to do before Christmas! Societies are having their last meeting before we break up (even the ones who are normally really rubbish at making plans are making them), personal tutors are giving their last meetings, and the rest of us are trying to keep up with exam prep, coursework, and reading (all while trying to juggle the social life)! Sounds impossible, doesn’t it?
But somehow, we’ve managed it. You can almost hear the simultaneous sigh of relief as the last week arrives and students are all calming down. Not sure how most other people feel, but it’s as if my mind is already on holiday while my body is struggling on.
Speaking of the holidays, mine’s going to consist mainly on visiting family which I’ve not seen in years, so I’m looking forward to that (although, I’m a little disappointed it wont involve tropical weather like some of my friends are going to get…). Unfortunately, my biggest worry for this break is my potential lack of time management – let’s face it, it’s pretty certain. I’ll have to find time between stuffing my face with homemade food (oh! How I’ve missed it!) and catching up on sleep in front of the tv/fire to write my coursework and study for exams!
