Is it really week 7 already?
We are in week 7 of uni and, with work starting to get heavy, time just seems to be flying past. Just yesterday my housemates and I were commenting on how quickly its all gone! “Can you believe we are already a quarter of the way in?” and “only a few weeks left till Christmas!” are a couple of the frightening remarks exchanged while we sipped on hot chocolate under our blankets (on top of everything, it’s now cold!)
Academically, I’m busy! I’ve been spending my days in student study areas which does make it all a little more bearable. In terms of classes, they are going well. I am particularly enjoying my history of art module, Sculpture and the Body, and as always, being challenged by the complex theories and critical writing in the Liberal Arts core module! After having used reading week last year to catch up on sleep and go clubbing more, I’ve reached an understanding of why reading week actually exists. I managed to get caught up with all the reading I’d not processed and all the reading for an upcoming essay. I even did some of the further reading (look at me go!).
In terms of societies and social life, it’s a pleasantly familiar routine. In between writing an article for The Epigram (I’ve only managed the one…), going to the gym consistently, and doing some creative drawing in my own time, I feel as though I’m using my time quite well. Obviously, it’s also good to see friends between uni breaks and the occasional coffee date or brunch. It’s always nice to do something special once in a while and with the Christmas spirit coming our way soon, there are quite a few turning on of Christmas lights, Christmas markets and fireworks to look forward to. All in all, I’m just trying to get through till the holidays!
