A Fresh Start to Second Year!

Returning to Bristol this time around is quite a different experience! I no longer have the privilege of taking the famous Bus 16 up to Stoke Bishop. Nor do I have the joy of eating the warm hearty meals from the Hiatt Baker Cafeteria. I now live ten minutes away from university in a lovely house of six girls. I am also (finally) learning how to cook and how to pay my own house bills!

During my first week back in Bristol, the nervousness I had at the beginning of last year was still lingering. I wasn’t quite ready to return to university after a four-month long hiatus from studying and working. I missed being at home with my family and friends. But everyone’s energy and excitement eventually got me prepared for the challenges ahead. Now, two weeks into lectures, I feel ready to tackle this academic year. Last year taught me the importance of time management and self-discipline. With this new-found “wisdom” I am determined to find my stride. Done are the days I frantically submit coursework a few minutes before the deadline.

There are many important events that will be happening in the next couple of weeks. I am most looking forward to starting my application for my Year Abroad and resuming all my extra curricular activities at the university. I almost forgot how many different distractions there are here! I’m also realizing that all of my upcoming assessments are now large building blocks constructing my future degree. It’s quite a scary thought! My challenge this year will be to masterfully juggle my academic work and all my other activities. The pressure is on!
