The Terrible Twos
The terrible twos are here! Second year undergraduate…I’m not going to lie, I feel somewhat accomplished. With less than two years remaining things are starting to heat up; a fact made very clear by two professors stating “this year counts”. At this point we all nervously laughed while screaming internally. It’s a daunting prospect but not an unexpected one. This time last year I and many others were all settling in and learning the ropes, now we’re experienced enough to not get lost on campus. Baby steps.
As for Liberal Arts? It’s just as old as we are academically, with a fresh batch of students taking our place as first years while we push further on into scholarly unknowns. It’s a little strange being considered the more knowledgeable member of university goings on when sharing classes with first years, but actually realizing you know what you’re talking about is such a confidence boost. The first essays of the year will be rolling around in the coming weeks and the ‘research-draft-edit-panic-submit’ routine can begin anew. Yet it’s a familiar routine now. So maybe the twos aren’t so terrible after all.
