What Came First, the Bunny or the Easter Egg?
It’s easter. Easter! How is it easter already?! The post-offer visit days have shot past and so has the pre-easter term. It’s getting around that time again where I need to alter my schedule from ‘attend class and make sure I eat’ to ‘revise for summer exams and make sure I don’t eat too much’. There was a mature student interview day recently and I had to stand in front of all the applicants to talk about my experiences as a mature student. It wasn’t scary, just odd, because the room I did it in was one of my main lecture rooms last term and there was me stood where the professors stand and waxing nostalgic about my time here. And answering some questions (there may be a teacher in me after all).
But one question remains unique to me and all the other Liberal Arts students: what pathway do I take for the next two years? It’s somewhat daunting. Mainly because for me who finds almost every subject interesting (like a kitten in a string factory) deciding on just the one subject can feel limiting. Really it’s between English and Theology for me. Books or deities. Writers or holy men. Though any book geek will tell you that the last two are the same thing. It’s an important decision. It’s going to require some serious contemplation. Some pros and cons lists. Some logical consideration and some gut feelings. Some brain fuel. Which is where the easter eggs come in. Hopefully the big Kinder egg ones with a toy inside. Because nothing says mature student with critical academic decisions to makeĀ than a giant chocolate egg and a toy.
